We were well into lockdown by the time of Gregory's birthday. The planned birthday party at Run of the Mill unfortunately had to be cancelled and we just had to make do with being at home. Still, there was a good selection of presents waiting for him when he got to the lounge, as well as a floating dinosaur balloon. This was at 20 past 7, so a reasonably respectable start to the day, all things considered.
He went for some of the smaller presents first but then moved on to one of the big ones.
It was a rocket firing toy, all driven by air by stamping on squeezy bits.
One of the other big presents was a (crazy) cricket set, feeding his cricket obsession.
He was soon opening it up to see what was inside. More on the contents later.
He dutifully tried on some football short - not sure why he didn't put the England top on as well. He's still all ribs.
Just over half an hour after starting, Gregory had opened all the presents and I had neatly arranged them for the traditional photo. Quite a decent selection.
Gregory was soon playing on one of the presents, a small games machine...
...and trying on his Star Wars T-shirt.
Well, time to get the cricket set out. It's a completely different scale to the previous set of stumps, as you can see from this photo. In fact, the stumps are almost as big as Gregory, which seems a little unfair.
He soon switches to bowling with Daisy having a bat and me on wicket keeper duties. The sunny weather continues, evidently offering them an opportunity to use chalk to draw on the patio.
Back inside, the Star Wars theme was continued with a Lego Star Wars game on the PlayStation. The ubiquitous C3PO and R2D2 feature here.
With no party, we had to make do with a video call with the family. Not sure where Nana Sue is but Aunty Janet and Uncle Graham have got party hats on while Mark and Helen are shaded up, enjoying the sunshine.
Time for the traditional birthday cake, with some crazy sparklers. Looks like a nice chocolate cake. This was all done on the video call.
Gregory's choice of birthday meal is, naturally, Domino's. He does love a pizza.
And that's the day itself. A few days later and Gregory seems pleased to have some of token. Not sure what it actually is, though.
In the ensuing days, he showcased some of his birthday presents. Here, a Star Wars fighter ship (or something).
And his Star Wars Encyclopedia, front and back.
Still tenuously connected to his birthday a week later, I think this is his blue games machine hooked up to the TV.
Later that day, we got the Scalextric going.
And we finish on more Star Wars - the fearsome Darth Vader.
And that is that. Not much to share with you because it was not a normal birthday. Let's see what his seventh year holds.
Or you can go back to the Secret Portal.
