We bring you news of Gregory as he moves into his second week (8 days old in this photo). He remains able to sleep in amusing poses, here looking rather like he has had a moment of mid-dream despair: "I can't believe I said that". (If Daisy could read, this would be the point at which she would say "no, Daddy, Gregory can't talk", which she says whenever we talk to Gregory, in particular when we ask him questions.)
Speak of the devil, here she is posing sweetly and, for once, obediently with her baby brother, who would rather get some rest but, okay, let's get these photos over with, shall we?
When holding Gregory, in which ever contorted form he desires, Daisy often shuffles in close. One of these occasions prompted me to request a photo to be taken by Lynne. I look a bit frozen-in-the-headlights, and Daisy is distracted by the TV (unusually for her...), but otherwise it's a good photo!
After taking a week of paternity leave around the Easter period, thus give me 12 days off, Grandad Graham came down to lend a hand. But he had to go home at some point, leaving Lynne home alone with the two children for the first time. Daisy had tired herself out at nursery and Gregory was sleeping as usual. Easy!
Pray silence please for the auto-rocking chair (see also above), featuring much earlier in Gregory's life than it did for Daisy (due to not-having-it issues with Daisy). In truth, he prefers being held to anything, but we can't do that all day (although Lynne would like to), so this is certainly one of the options. And his main gripe in his early weeks is not having enough milk in his tummy, which rocking seldom solves. He's two weeks old in this shot.
He's also about two weeks old here. Lying him on my knees in a check-the-nappy pose, this seemed like a good opportunity to take a photo when he was quite alert.
Later that day, Nana Sue came round for a hold (it is transparently the only reason that she comes round at the moment, other than to see Daisy, but that's fine). Gregory looked somewhat alarmed.
Another glut of nice weather during my second week of paternity leave meant that Gregory spent a bit more time in the garden with Daisy and me, comfily snuggling in the car seat. Despite the sunny weather, it remained fresh in the mornings, hence the silly hat that Lynne has insisted bedecking him with.
May is soon upon us, which means that Gregory is (almost) three weeks old, and ready, perhaps, for the jungle mat. He certainly didn't mind the opportunity to kick his legs and, on one occasion, managed to do perhaps a quarter roll.
Another day, another go on the jungle mat. This shot is most notable for an early attempt at a smile.
And that, as they say, is that. Read here how he tackles the difficult fourth week.
