Now that she has reached five months old, we decide to start her on solids.  I say solids, but it's little more than a paste or purée.  She sits in her highchair for the first time, looking over at her mum as if to say "what am I doing in here?  Sort it out."

She actually looks quite tiny in the highchair, despite recent growth spurts.

She didn't quite know what to make of the puréed rice, tending to push it back out with her tongue, looking rather unconvinced by it as a viable alternative to baby milk.  As a result, the majority seemed to end up on her chin.

She seemed to like me being there, though.  My ploy was to make her laugh so that her mouth would open ready for rice.

In response to most of the other mothers having one, Lynne bought Daisy a Jumperoo, kind of like a toy-laden baby-bungee.  At five-and-a-half months, she's not quite ready - it's all she can do to hold on and look anxious.  Whilst her feet could touch the ground, she keeps them hovering in the air, and she has only recently started to play with the toys.  But she doesn't like to stay in there for too long yet.

Daisy chills on her jungle mat with two-doors-down neighbour Hannah (whose christening party we went to today).  Hannah also has a jungle mat - they are all the rage.

Still a keen reader, Daisy tries the crinkly, indestructible Hello Kitty book.

Her favourite toy at the moment, however, is the orange monkey from the jungle mat.  This is expressed by trying to pull poor Monkey limb from limb.

We've all been here - battling with a broadsheet.

That's your lot for now.

Approaching six months old and spending an afternoon at Altrincham Garden Centre with the twins (not pictured), Daisy focuses her concentration the toys dangling from the car seat (which slots neatly into the pram base).

Daisy looks startled by the flash whilst eating some puréed carrot.

Daisy proudly wears a T-shirt which was a present from Paul & Vicky.  It says "I Appreciate The Muppets On A Much Deeper Level Than You".

Auntie Katie comes round for the next part of her training, which involved her first nappy change.

Two days short of six months, we're getting into the realms of more grown-up outfits.  Out go the baby grows.  Of course, she's never too far away from her favourite orange monkey, as I mentioned above.

She's getting into the Jumperoo now, although she still doesn't put her feet down properly.  Here she looks mildly guilty while reading the Hello Kitty book, which contains little in the way of words but does rustle entertainingly.

Part of the training includes giving Daisy dessert (puréed fruit, of course).

Later that day, I take her through the little animal book set (by which I mean that the books are little, not the animals) which was a present from Nana Sue.  She is infatuated with books, which we think is a good sign.  We are also both members of the denim club.

And that brings you up to date.

The following photos are from our trip to Llandudno, although I have tried to use photos not used there - but there may be some crossover.  Cos they are of Daisy!  Here she is comfortably sat in an armchair.  She is a little over six months here and still unable to sit up unassisted, but she is getting close.

It doesn't always work when you leave her sat in the chair, however; although this position must have been reached by her arching her back, a classic sign that she is tired, rather than flopping over helplessly (which does happen too).

Her excitement at bagsying the double bed in the Penrhynside cottage is palpable.

So here we have Daisy: expectantly waiting for puréed fruit or veg, ...

...battling with the elements, ...

...jolly well excited to be on holiday, ...

...and surfing on her tummy (generally under protest, although she seems happy enough here).

She does the princess and her jewels.

Daisy loves a bit of carrier action, after touring the Anglesey Sea Zoo...

...and on the Great Orme Tramway.  Lynne has deployed the anti-dribble muslin.

Like mother like daughter.  They often set each other off giggling.

More and more she has become hyperactive with her hands, swinging them, slapping them down, etc.  This is particular true writing this nearly two weeks later than the date of the photo below.

That's yer lot for now.

Later that day (after heading back from Llandudno), the holiday had clearly tired Daisy out, and she fell asleep on her side on the jungle mat.

And it's time for a new page.
