It's time for Daisy's Big Day Out on her 8th day. As Paul B put it Driving Miss Daisy or, rather, the long-awaited sequel Wheeling Miss Daisy: This Time It's Parental. I test drove the iCandy (yes, it's a stupid name, with its meaningless 'i' prefix) and it handled well in dry conditions. It's currently with the Stig to do a Power Lap on the Top Gear test track. On a different note, her hat always seems to slip off. She couldn't totally relax in there given the bumpiness of the pavements, but she was getting there. More or less everything is new to her at this point after all.
Another day (9th), another sleeping pose. Her hair is starting to get tufty at the back. Lynne thinks she might try her with a mullet first up.
And all the time we were inundated with kind gifts from well-wishers.
The sisters Bamford show off their not-forgotten baby management skills.
Daisy Allen stars in Scarface 2: How It All Began. Derivative movie posters have described it as Look Who's Talking meets Goodfellas. (We've now filed her nails to avoid her causing herself damage like this.) This is from day 10, which day she was again weighed by the midwife, who confirmed her weight to be 3.68kg, or 8lb 2oz.
Lynne once again shows off her really very good parenting skills (on day 11). There's something about that familiar heartbeat.
It's day 12, and Daisy shows off just how ruddy cute she is, whilst reclining in her recliner.
Film title de jour: Begone With The Wind. As Jane B noted, she looks very pleased with herself. "Just like her dad" added AJ.
That's all for now.
At the weekend, Aunty Louise and Grandma Avis hurtled down the motorway from Edinburgh to Heaton Chapel. Louise was eager for a go with her new niece, although she seemed unaware of the limitations of a two-week old baby. "What else does she like to do?" Louise was heard to ask. Eat, poo, stare, sleep. That's pretty much it. Meanwhile, Louise sang and sang (and sang) to Daisy who, to be fair, does seem captivated.
Into week three, and Daisy wore a white hat that was originally worn when Lynne was a baby. In other words, a long time ago.
Daisy looks quite serious in the recliner. That normally means some sort of downstairs action, particularly with the hunching of the shoulders.
Occasionally, a bit of daddy magic is required, as Daisy seems to fall asleep in my arms. Whilst apparently giving the finger.
She can look different in every shot. Here: a cheeky scamp.
Grandma Avis stayed for most of the week to help Lynne out (it was my first week back at work after two weeks of paternity leave). Daisy seemed to like her outdoor snowsuit. Looks very snug.
Grandad Graham left earlier than the crack of dawn to see his granddaughter, who was happy to sleep in his arms. He was soon off, however, as he had things to do. (Like shop.) Lynne took her to be weighed later that day, with Daisy now clocking in at 3.88kg, or nearly 8lb 9oz.
Here's another shot of Grandad Graham holding young Daisy that I just found on Lynne's camera a few weeks later.
So anyway, her recliner is her new hangout. She likes to chill.
Daisy has this brilliant ability (which is probably shared by most babies, but we only have one) to put her arms in the air whilst sleeping. She just holds them there for ages. I've tried it and it's not easy, or indeed remotely comfortable.
A present from Aunty Louise gets a first outing. Looking somewhat like a prisoner, her babygrow says "BEEN INSIDE FOR 9 MONTHS". She has little pink shoes on too. Oh and she is three weeks old today!
Another outdoor outfit in which she feels very comfortable. She is now very used to the pram and drifts off fairly easily as soon as she is outside and being wheeled along.
Here is a close-up of those shoes, which say 50% daddy on one and 50% mummy on the other. Very good. Daisy watches with curiosity/suspicion in the background.
And that's pretty much it from the first three weeks. Week four is now up.
