"Sadly, fighting
work-related fires thwarted me from making it to the pre-dinner drinks at
Albert's Schloss (although I do highly recommend it there!). Instead, I
met the rest of our merry group of 7 at Arnero. It's not the
most
glamorous setting for a restaurant (effectively build into the NCP car park),
but you would never know once you're inside! The staff were very welcoming
and the lead waiter had a great sense of humour. As is customary, we
started with poppadoms and dips. There were only 3 choices of dip to whet
our appetite, and I did think that 3 dishes shared between 7 of us was slightly
stingy.
This was followed by a selection of starters to share amongst the group (including one vegetable and one meat platter, plus a couple of other dishes from the starter menu). These arrived promptly after ordering and were all tasty (although I would probably pass on the spicy water "Golgappa" shots in future...[yeah, it was an interesting experience!]). I was tempted to try the Chicken Tikka Masala, which I am told is well renowned, but this Godly man is on a Godly diet and so the creamy delights of such a dish had to be left for another time. Instead, I opted for the Chicken Methi Saag, which proved to be a solid choice - not disappointing, but not "knock your socks off" amazing - accompanied by the usual selection of rice and naans (which I would say were better than average). Overall, it was a lovely evening and actually nice to have a smaller group like this every once in a while for Curry Night so that everyone on the table can speak to one another!"
